Day 1 and 2: Tromsø
After our arrival, 350 kilometres north of the Arctic Circle, you will explore Tromsø, the „Paris of the North“, with its famous Arctic Ocean Cathedral, the exciting Polar Museum, which documents the history of expeditions into the ice, or on a trip by cable car up to Fjellheisen with breathtaking views over the icy fjord landscape. You will spend the first night in a superior 4 star hotel (Radisson Blu or similar). In the afternoon of the following day we will welcome you on board the „Cape Race“. We will introduce you to the ship and crew, you can freshen up in your cabin or enjoy the comfortable saloon and, depending on weather conditions, the captain will give the signal to leave.

Day 3 – 8: Fjords of Northern Norway
The itinerary for the coming days and nights is decided according to conditions in the environment. The weather, and especially the migration of the whales, determine the route of our expedition ship. Thanks to the small size and 12-guest maximum on „Cape Race“, the captain and expedition leader can spontaneously determine the perfect course for the journey.

We follow humpback or fin whales as well as schools of orcas in the fjords on their hunt for shoals of herring. Their spouting guides us, similar to the pattering hiss sound of herring shoals in calm weather. We glide through the fjords accompanied by the dancing aurora borealis above the snowy mountains. Depending on the route, we will drop anchor or moor at piers in picturesque places. The silence on deck, exciting visits on the bridge, evenings in the saloon in the warmth of the woodstove enjoying the tuneful sounds of the piano, relaxing in the sauna on board, evening strolls along the coast or an excellent meal will become unforgettable moments.

Day 9: Tromsø
Return flight or transfer to the „Arctic Panorama Lodge“

We offer you an optional four-day stay at the „Arctic Panorama Lodge“ following the cruise on the „Cape Race“. On the island of Uløya, you will learn about the traditions of the Sami people and explore the vast expanse of the Nordland on a husky sled ride. And in the evenings, you will enjoy the great silence of the north – under the dancing veils of light of the northern lights.
